The Cerro Blanco project is in the south of Guatemala near the town of Asuncion Mita, close to the El Salvador border.
The challenge to the Cerro Blanco Raise Contract Project is to complete two 2.4 meter diameter raises with a mechanized raise climber with in situ rock temperatures of 54 degrees Celsius.
The first raise was 104 meters, and has been completed along with collar construction and fan installation. The second raise is is to be 140 meters and is 90 per cent complete, with collar construction and fan installation to be done shortly.
A third raise is also now planned at this site.
