Dan Dumas

Daniel Dumas

President and CEO

Daniel established Dumas Contracting Ltd. in 1994 and drove noteworthy sales growth in engineering and contract mining. Sales growth escalated from $500,000 in 1994 to over $200 Million in 2008. Daniel is an industry leader and innovative thinker with strong diversified expertise in operations, finance, business development and sales leadership. He continues to be a director for many publicly traded companies.

Prior to establishing Dumas Contracting, Daniel held a supervisory role with a leading mining contractor where he managed numerous projects in a variety of metal environments. His technical and business experience in underground mining, both internationally and domestically assures the success of any project.

Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Mining Engineering from New Mexico Tech. He presently holds Professional Engineering Licenses in the provinces of Ontario, Québec, Manitoba and British Columbia.


Andy Fearn

Andy Fearn

Chief Operating Officer

Andy is a professional engineer with over 28 years of experience in providing the highest standard of service to the global underground mining contracting industry. Since graduating as a mining engineer, Andy has held a series of progressively more senior engineering and executive positions at Cementation, Thyssen Mining and The Redpath Group.

At Redpath, Andy held Vice Presidential and Senior Vice Presidential roles in operations with responsibility for North East and Central Asia, the United States, Latin America, Mongolia, and Tanzania. In addition, Andy also held group executive responsibility for Engineering, Technical Services and Shaft Sinking. The opportunity to lead various operations with a variety of stakeholders throughout the world has provided Andy with extensive experience managing domestic and international mining contracting operations, safety management, engineering, technical services and equipment management.

Andy has a Master of Science in mining engineering from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Science and ACSM from Camborne School of Mines. He presently holds a Professional Engineering Licence in the province of Ontario, British Columbia, Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan, and a Chartered Engineering Licence in the United Kingdom.


Larry Zuccherato

Larry Zuccherato

Vice President of Business Development

Larry leads the estimating, costing and technical service departments. In Larry's 30+ years of experience in the mining contracting industry, he has led estimating and business development departments, and has worked on a wide variety of domestic and international engineering and mine construction projects for major mining companies. Larry’s knowledge and experience in all key facets of the mining industry make him a valuable asset for tender development, proposal submissions, contract formalization and administration, project management and cost control.

Larry is a graduate of the Haileybury School of Mines and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.


Greg Hart

Greg Hart

Vice President Operations, Canada

Responsible for all Ontario, Manitoba, and USA projects, Greg manages operations and provides direction in all aspects of the organization.

Greg has 31 years of management and technical underground mining experience. He has overseen numerous international and nationwide shaft, mechanized raising, construction, ramp and lateral development projects. Most notably, Greg was responsible for a full turnkey production contract at Montcalm Mine and for the capital expansion of Mine 'D' at Xstrata Copper's Kidd Creek Mine.

Prior to Dumas Contracting Ltd., Greg was responsible for all contracts in the Timmins Porcupine area and for the implementation of mechanized raising projects around the world for J.S. Redpath. As the Area Manager, he also had direct involvement in tender work, contract negotiations, implementation of contracts, audit progress, schedule and budget monitoring.

Greg holds his Ontario Hard Rock Common Core, Ontario Hard Rock Speciality Modules, Ontario Production Supervision and Ontario Mine Rescue Advanced accreditation. In addition, Greg is a Certified Alimak Specialist and an Instructor for the Ontario Ministry of Labour on Mechanized Raising


Greg Hart

Chris Hickey

Vice President International Operations

Chris is a Mining Engineer with more than 30 years of international mining contracting experience. Chris brings to the Dumas team extensive expertise in directing international mining contracting operations. Prior to joining Dumas, Chris completed a lengthy career at positions of increasing responsibility within The Redpath Group (Redpath).

At Redpath, Chris held several executive positions including Vice President, U.S. and Central America, and Vice President/General Manager U.S. and Latin American Operations. Chris has broad international experience extending from greenfield exploration projects to large production complexes, covering all aspects of underground mine development and construction in challenging geographical locations.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Science (Mining Engineering) from Queens University and a Mining Technician Diploma from Haileybury School of Mines. Chris is a registered engineer with The Professional Engineers of Ontario and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, Society of Mining Engineers (USA) and Society of Explosives Engineers.


Wayne Mohns

Wayne Mohns

General Manager, Ontario & Western Canada

Wayne is a professional engineer with over 22 years of experience in mine contracting, operations and mine management. He joined Dumas Contracting Ltd. in 2009 as Area Manager and has since focused his attention on the management of several existing projects as well has development of potential projects.

Prior to his time at Dumas, Wayne held a number of senior management positions with Redpath, Xstrata Nickel, Homestake, Barrick and Teck-Cominco: This includes being the Area Manager for Redpath in Sudbury, Mine Captain at Xstrata Nickel, Williams and David Bell Mines in the Hemlo Gold camp. His varied operational and management experience in contracting, mine operation, process improvement, strategic planning, and group building benefit the Dumas team.

Wayne has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mining Engineering from Queen’s University in 1986. He also attended Ryerson University and graduated as a Civil Technologist in 1983. He presently holds a Professional Engineering License in the province of Ontario.


Gaetan Malette

Gaétan Malette

Director of Aboriginal Relations

Gaétan is presently responsible for all aboriginal relations throughout the company's operating locations as well as developing, implementing and measuring the company's Aboriginal Peoples Plan. Preceding Dumas, Gaétan worked for 35 years in the resource industry. Gaétan has held executive positions with forestry leaders Tembec, E.B. Eddy and Domtar.

Gaétan has extensive experience in operations management, negotiations, strategic planning and building relationships with isolated communities, interest groups and First Nations. Presently, he is a member of the Northern Development Council reporting to the Minister of Northern Development and Mines.

Gaétan received his education at Algonquin College.


Rick Guillemette

Richard Guillemette

Vice President of Health and Safety

Richard has been involved in mining since 1981, when he began working underground at Kidd Creek Mine. In 1989, Richard joined the Police Service and excelled as a police officer during his ten-year career. In 1999, he joined the Ontario Ministry of Labour’s Health and Safety branch as a Mining Inspector. He collaborated with the industry to implement various health and safety legislations and led many investigations.

In 2004, Richard joined Dumas as Director of Health and Safety. He has been instrumental in developing a very successful health and safety management program, as well as leading the Human Resources department. He continues to provide leadership and direction to all of our Safety and Human Resources programs throughout Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba and the United States.


Stephen McGinn

Stephen McGinn

Director of Human Resources

Stephen is a professional Human Resources Management specialist with more than 14 years experience in human resources, general management and consulting. Stephen brings to the Dumas team the knowledge and leadership skills to direct Dumas' Human Resources Teams across Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba

Prior to joining Dumas, Stephen was Vice President of Operations with Kivalliq Marine Transportation Services. In this role Stephen managed contracts and personnel for bulk cargo services for the northern Kivalliq region of Nunavut. Previously, Stephen was the National Manager of Human Resources and Corporate Chief Privacy Officer for Black & McDonald, a large Canadian construction firm. Stephen has previously served on the board of directors for several junior mining companies.

Stephen holds an Executive Masters Degree in Human Resources from York University, a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Sociology from Laurentian University, and a Law and Security Administration diploma from Cambrian College.


Peter Newton

Peter Newton

Chief Financial Officer

Peter is a Chartered Accountant with 23 years domestic and international financial management experience in the metals and minerals extraction industries around the world. Prior to joining Dumas Contracting Ltd., he provided his financial expertise to the oil sands service sector and was Vice President Finance with Dyno Nobel Canada. Peter also held a series of progressively more senior financial positions at various major business units of Boart Longyear during its rapid growth period culminating in the role of Treasurer, Controller and Secretary for the Canadian and International Drilling business units.

At Boart Longyear, Peter gained significant international financial reporting and financial management experience on the European, South American, Central American and the African continents. This experience was derived from his involvement in international corporate acquisition transactions, their integration and subsequent operational management. In addition he was a member of the global financial management team. Prior to joining the Boart Longyear, he was Corporate Controller for Dickenson Mines (the predecessor to Goldcorp Inc.) with mining operations in Canada and the United States.

Peter has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Ontario in addition to his CA designation. He is a member of the Institutes of Chartered Accountants in Ontario and Alberta.


Kevin Griener

Kevin Griener

Vice President Corporate Affairs and General Counsel

Kevin joined the Dumas senior management team in 2008, after working closely with the company for many years. Kevin adds a wealth of knowledge and experience to the company in all aspects of corporate, commercial and business law. As an active member of the bar association and a past managing partner and owner of a successful law firm, Kevin has been involved in business formation and reorganization, service and independent contract agreements, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, corporate financing, and tax and succession planning in many industries.

Kevin holds a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo.
