MARSA

In 2013, Dumas was contracted to undertake shaft sinking at the MARSA Mine, part of the Cerro El Gigante deposit within the Marañón geological complex in Peru.

Dumas was responsible for excavation of a 758-metre-deep, 4.2-metre-diameter concrete-lined shaft, including associated ground support and shaft furnishings. The scope included shaft slashing, fortification with bolts, mesh, shotcrete, and concrete, as well as excavation of stations and access development. The mine’s elevation at 3,900 metres AMSL demanded advanced planning for logistics and workforce safety.
