In 2006, Dumas commenced work at the Dome Mine, located in Timmins, Ontario. Operated by Goldcorp Inc. and later acquired by Newmont, Dome was one of the oldest operating gold mines in the region and required significant development and infrastructure support to sustain production. Over its engagement at Dome, Dumas completed over 100 projects, including open raising, timber raising, wooden chute construction, captive mining, miscellaneous infrastructure installations, and both track and trackless development.
Dumas was responsible for all the lateral development required to prepare longhole stopes for drilling and production. On average, crews excavated approximately 2,800 metres of development annually during peak years such as 2015–2016. Development included trackless and track drifting, sub-level development, and related slashing. In total, Dumas excavated over 20,000 metres of ramp and lateral development.
Additionally, Dumas completed approximately 300 metres of vertical development, consisting of equal portions of Alimak and open raising. Crews and resources were scaled up to meet increased development requirements prior to the mine’s closure in 2017.
During its time at Dome, Dumas also executed multiple construction projects, including screening deck plants, ore/waste chutes, rockbreaker installations, and shaft and material handling infrastructure.
