In October 2007, Dumas commenced work at LaRonde Mine, located in Preissac, Quebec. Owned and operated by Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd., LaRonde is one of Canada’s deepest and most technically challenging gold mines.
Dumas was awarded the Penna Winze Project, which involved sinking a 5.5 metre diameter concrete-lined internal winze to a depth of 835 metres, ultimately extending to 2,858 metres below surface. This marked the third consecutive shaft project awarded by Agnico Eagle, following the successful completion of the Lapa and Goldex shafts. Alongside shaft sinking, Dumas also completed three shaft stations and 40 metres of lateral development, as well as the construction and commissioning of the underground hoist and hoist room, ventilation system, electrical stations, loading pockets, dumping chutes, and all associated shaft furnishings.
