Mine Development, Shaft Sinking
Preissac, Quebec

In October 2007, Dumas was awarded the Penna Winze Project which involved sinking a 5.5 metre diameter concrete lined internal winze 835 metres deep, to an ultimate depth of 2,858 metres below surface in challenging ground and heat conditions. This was the third consecutive shaft sinking project Agnico-Eagle commissioned Dumas to deliver following the successes of the Lapa and Goldex projects.

Working in close partnership with Agnico-Eagle, Dumas initiated a precise logistical plan to carry out our contracting activities in parallel with the mine’s operations.

Concurrent to this project, Dumas excavated three stations and a respective 40 metres of lateral development. Additionally, Dumas constructed, installed and commissioned the underground hoist and hoist room, ventilation system, electrical stations, loading pockets, dumping chutes and all shaft and station hardware.
